Frequently Asked Questions
❓Can kids join?
Yes! My daughter has been "helping" me with ikebana since she was a toddler. Children 5 and under join for free. Please note that in ikebana we do use sharp objects like scissors, pins, and wire. Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring kids stay safe.
❓Do I need to know Japanese?
Not at all! I lived in the U.S. for 10 years and speak English. I've taught students from all over the world in English. I'll explain any ikebana-specific Japanese words that we use.

❓Is the studio accessible?
Unfortunately not at this time. The studio is on the 2nd floor and requires walking up stairs. We know this isn't ideal and we are looking for a fully accessible space.
❓ Can you come to us instead?
Yes, we’re open to bringing the ikebana experience to your location in Kyoto, whether it's a hotel, guesthouse, or event space. This does require advance discussion so we can confirm the setup and materials. If you’re interested, please mention it when you book or message us to discuss details.
